Update: Kids and Camp

Taylor and I have decided to extend our youth group fund-raising efforts through the month of May.   We decided to make it personal and set a real goal that is attainable through our friends, family and networks.
We "adopted" Liz, Jess, and Tyler Benner to help them finish raising their camp money. (Jess and Liz are sisters and Tyler is their cousin).  Together they need $627 to send them to camp.  Beyond their need, around 10 other youth groupers need help raising funds.

You can read a little more about them in their profiles below:
(My lovely scanner was uncooperative, so I had to take pics of the hard copies...sorry for the "cut and paste" effect!)
One of the biggest blessings of our business is the opportunity to help others live their dreams!  In raising money for the youth, they will have the chance to see the face of God in the beauty of his creation at Glorietta, NM...the ability to find Jesus in the teachings and support from the staff and their youth Pastor...and the blessing of feeling the presence of the Holy Spirit where so many have gathered for the cause of spreading the Good News!

Sending the Youth Group to Camp!

Hello, friends!

We are excited to announce our new website AND a promotion to help send the youth group from our church to camp:)

During March and April, 100% of the profits from our website will be donated to the fund to send the kids to MissionFuge (a missions-focused summer camp).  We are hoping to be a part of raising the $5000+ they are short for this summer's group.  The kids have also taken part in many other fundraisers....including hiring themselves out to do various odd-jobs (landscaping, mostly).  Our products include many household items you already use as well as presitge skin care, vitamins and organic cleaning products.

Check us out and tell us what you think!

Why unpack if the clothes are clean?

We've been back from MI for almost a week now...
The suitcases are still in the living room (packed with clean clothes) and we've yet to do a real grocery store trip, but it has been a busy week of cleaning!

I started in our bedroom in hopes of making room for Taylor's clothes in our closet...hmmmm
I was able to donate about 6 bags of clothes to Goodwill and our church, as yet Taylor hasn't sacrificed any clothes to help with the space shortage.  Seems a bit lopsided if you ask me!  However, we are mightly blessed and definitely have more than we need.

My next project will be our home office.  Things got a little crazy in there while Taylor was in CA...I'll admit it was sort of my dumping grounds.  I didn't file papers and receipts as I normally do and as a result, they have formed heaping piles!  We also seem to have lots and lots of books laying around...might need to pick up a new bookcase soon.  After the office, I intend to tackle the hall closet which houses a mixture of samples and full size Artistry products, assorted crafty-type items, games, half of a Pier 1 store, and our entire VHS (yes, still) collection...Those might be checking out the local goodwill store tomorrow!

All of these projects are leading up to a whirlwind of expected out-of-town guests this spring:
Feb 27th-Mar 6th: Aunt Sherri and Uncle Ted
Mar 6th- Mar 13th: Grand Valley Girls Golf (my sister's team)= MOM:)
May:  NATIONALS for GVSU= Mom AND Dad, Grandma and Grandpa and perhaps some aunts?

Can't wait to host them all....I think I might be seeing the Grand Canyon one more time in a week or so:)

quick thoughts on my way to pack

The house is a wreck, but Taylor is home!
SOOO happy!
Leaving tomorrow today for Baltimore until Sunday night when I will go to Michigan to visit family and friends.  Taylor will join me a few days later and we will vacation together:)

I'm proud to report the Christmas tree and decorations finally went away last night.  yay me!
I was terrified I'd run out of time and return from vacation in the middle of February with the Christmas tree still staring me in the face.  YIKES!  now, time to go and pack...i hope i have enough warm clothes....

Lazy days of.....DECEMBER?!

(Taylor and I at Fogo De Chao in November)

Brutus and I arrived in Palm Desert around 1:30 today so we could spend a little time with Taylor.  We had a late lunch at ROC's Firehouse Grill.  Taylor said we had to or no one there would believe I existed since he always goes after golf with his friend, Connor. Turns out he was right! The waitress accused him of a Bro-mance...lol!  The food was good and the company was better!

We decided that the family will be receiving updated photos for Christmas- hehe, its been awhile!
Since we aren't together too often, looks like tomorrow will be the big day...hopefully I packed a good outfit.  I didn't really think about that when I was tossing items in my bag!

Taylor and I are hoping to make a trip home to Michigan TOGETHER in February.  We would go by way of Baltimore, MD where we are planning to attend a business conference with some associates.  Either way, I will definitely be headed out...just hope I can have Taylor with me.  He should be working in Phoenix by that time.  Please keep the prayers going about that one as all the pieces need to fall into place perfectly.  Seems like he will be out of Cali permanently by mid-January.  That would be a major praise for us as this last year has been tough on both of us.  We like to be together too much to be apart so often!

Speaking of....i'm gonna go sit by my man on the sofa.  GO PISTONS!

O Christmas Tree

i want to give some major points to TAYLOR for putting the tree up and lighting it on Thanksgiving eve.  It is fully decorated and beautiful.  AND thanks to his preparation, i was able to enjoy hanging the ornaments:)  (this is the only part i like:)  if i'm lucky, the picture I sent via my cell phone will post here as well!

God bless you and your family during this holiday season!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

God is so GOOD...thanks for popcorn!

I've been in CA since Tuesday night (got here super late, didn't leave AZ until after 6).
Yesterday, Taylor and I had the WHOLE day together to do what ever we wanted....hehehe.
We went to Red Robin for lunch...(DON'T EVER look at their "nutritional menu"...it'll make you sick) and then we made the trip to the outlet mall that is 20 minutes west of here.  I had been before with my friend Jen, but it was Taylor's first time:)  We started at the Puma store where Taylor found some sweet shoes, a sweater, and a golf shirt...I found an AWESOME Columbia Jacket for $30 bucks.  It is some kind of goretex fabric or something.  Not heavy duty, but warmer than a windbreaker.......ashamed to admit I wore it most of the day.  It was 70, breezy and overcast and I was FREEZING without it! We made those two purchases around noon and shopped until after 3, but didn't find anything else...amazing, I know.  We tried to get ice cream (taylor's request... i was still freezing) at McDonald's on the way home, but the sign on the speaker said "Sorry, no ice cream or shakes".  While we were backing out of the line, I commented that someone should have put a sign on the entrance...wouldn't you know, there it was!!  OOOPS!  I seem to recall the same McD's not having a chocolate ice cream for Jen last time we were there....

Anyway, ice cream craving unresolved....we stopped at the grocery store on the way home.  I've been trying to get back to my Type A diet most of the time, so when Taylor asked for taco salad...i suggested chicken taco salad.  They turned out ok, but I don't think I've won him over to the wonders of ground chicken....
Taylor enjoyed his chocolate ice cream for dessert, and I made marshmallow popcorn again.  It was quite difficult in the small kitchen of the condo, without my ginormous tupperware bowl to mix it in....i dirtied up a few bowls....but it got the job done!  It was wonderful, except for the piece of popcorn that got stuck in my back tooth....tired everything to get it out, but Taylor was out of floss!  I finally found a tiny bit of floss in his dobb kit and got that sucker out this morning!

Now, I'm just waiting for Taylor to come pick me up for some kind of meeting....hmmmm....guess it will be an adventure.  What a beauiful day in CA!

A day off!???

I love just waking up in the morning, knowing that I have nothing I have to do until I want something to do. Does that make sense? Oh, I also thrive on the days that are packed from (i was about to say sun-up to sun-down....but if you know me well....) 9am- midnight or later. However, there is definitely something to be said for slowing down and enjoying a day off here and there.

Lately, my days off have been spent traveling to Palm Desert, CA to spend time with Taylor. He has been there for about a year and committed to 6 more months. We are both thankful he has a job, but anxious to be living together again! Though, it is fun to act like we are on vacation when I'm in CA with him. We have a trip planned to San Diego in November...just 3 days, but perfectly timed before we REALLY hit the Christmas Craziness.

Wondering why I am not working today, but not in CA either? Taylor is training in Austin, TX this week for a new position he is taking within Golfsmith. He is excited to run with it and make the position his own, but he has to learn what the company is expecting this week! So, I end up in Arizona with two whole days off! Yesterday I spent most of it at the church preparing for the upcoming Fall Festival (October 24th, 2pm....FREE!! contact me for directions!) and the movie night we have planned for Friday. It has been fun planning all these events for church and I have enjoyed the fellowship with my friends. I am hoping we can continue to bring people in from the community to fellowship with us as well.

This is a long post, and being the skimmer that I am...I probably wouldn't have read the whole thing either. I'm excited to be going out to Surprise to visit some good friends today and then heading to Glendale tonight to meet with some other friends! Lovin' it:)
